Perdomo
Perdomo: Tradition you can taste
The name “Perdomo” not only stands for absolute premium quality, but also for the epic and moving family history that has shaped the company.
The history of the successful cigar manufacturer leads to San Jose de las Lajas, in the depths of Cuba. Silvio Perdomo , founder and namesake of the company, began to make a name for himself in the cigar business in the 1930s. He worked for various – at the time very respected – factories in Cuba and enjoyed the best training that was possible there at the time. His great wish was to establish himself successfully in the tobacco business and to convince his son, Nick Perdomo, to follow in his footsteps.
In the constraints of the regime
But the Cuban revolution hit the family hard: Silvio Perdomo spent almost twelve years in prison, had to endure harsh torture and could no longer pursue his passion for cigar production. To the relief of the entire family, Perdomo Junior managed to escape the guerrilla fighting in the country and fled to the United States. Here he fulfilled his father’s greatest wish: he devoted himself to the tobacco business and produced the first Perdomo cigar in 1992. At that time, the young Cuban exile was still rolling cigars in his garage – unprofessionally, but even then with a lot of dedication.
Perdomo family tradition
Years later, Nick Perdomo had made it and built his own factory . From growing the tobacco to finishing the stylish packaging made of Spanish cedar wood, everything is in the hands of the family business. The smoking experience that comes with every Perdomo is also due to the carefully selected growing areas in Nicaragua . It is not without reason that countless experts
n the tobacco world grow in Nicaragua and make use of the favorable local conditions. The mild tropical climate and the volcanic soil allow the tobacco to thrive and give it a unique flavor .
The unique Perdomo note
You can find the Cuban manufacturer’s diverse range at Cigarworld. It presents various editions that differ slightly from one another in terms of taste nuances – but all variations have one thing in common: that certain Perdomo taste . The basic character of the Nicaraguan tobacco runs through the entire range and is one of the guarantees for the brand’s great success.
The LOT23 line combines tobaccos from a single field, with the exception of the Connecticut varieties, which contain a foreign wrapper. The tobaccos are aged for four months and fermented for twelve months.
Sometimes noble, sometimes solemn
The Double Aged 12 Years Vintage is particularly classy . Once again, it is the maturation that makes these cigars unique: they fermented in bales for ten years, then moved to a former bourbon barrel for another two years for the “finishing touches”.
Perdomo likes to use anniversary cigars to vary the same blend with different wrappers. Successful examples of this are the Reserve 10th Anniversary and the 20th Anniversary , which, as the name suggests, were released for the 10th and 20th anniversaries respectively.
The Fresco, available in a bundle, promises optimal value for money . The Nicaragua Bourbon Barrel Aged , on the other hand, offers an incomparable, “buttery” aroma ; the tobaccos were stored for half a year in an oak barrel that was once used to mature bourbon.
Perdomo: Not only Nicaragua
Perdomo is also keen to experiment when it comes to combinations. They know the high quality of their own Nicaraguan tobaccos – and also that they can be brought out in completely different ways by combining them with exotic leaves. The Reserve Cameroon cigars with their – of course – Cameroon wrapper, but also the La Tradicion , also with a wrapper from the West African country, offer a perfect harmony of the Black Continent and Central America.
